Mobile Of The Day at FWA for bergh.dk

The renowned FWA has awarded the mobile version of bergh.dk with Mobile Of The Day for September 8th!

Me and Robert Larsen did a mobile version of bergh.dk, the website of danish photographer Anders Bergh, earlier this summer. Today the site was awarded the prestigous Mobile Of The Day at The FWA.

The site is an addition to the already awarded flash-site, and even though it's made and optimized for the iOS platform, it also works as a fallback for the flash site. The mobile version plugs into the existing backend with some xml to json encoding, and sports hand-coded gesture recognition for swipe/zoom, CSS3 animations for optimized performance, and CSS Media Queries for adapting to different screen sizes. Everything packaged and wrapped in an elegant and smooth design, thanks to Robert. :)

Check out the award-page here, watch the demo-video below, and/or point your iPad to bergh.dk to check it out for yourself.

A small application I created for Neue and architect firm Verte earlier this year is finally live.

The bright minds at Neue has created the new profile for norwegian architect firm Verte. The new logo is a 8x8 grid, which can be filled with a limited set of colors with certain restrictions. Neue wanted to give ownership of the logo to the employees at Verte, and hired me to make a small application where the employees can log in and customized the colors of their very own 2x2 part of the logo. If the employees don't update their part for a while, the part will gradually fade out to white.

The application consists of small Symfony back-end which communicates through remoting with two small flash applications, one admin-interface for the superadmins and users, and one for displaying the actual logo.

The Verte website is developed by Laboremus.

Vinmonopolet Annual Report 2010

Together with Teft Design, I've developed Vinmonopolet's digital annual report for 2010.

The site is HTML5, and makes heavy use of the new semantical elements to provide structure to the pages. Content is organized into articles, sections and subarticles where applicable, navigational elements are tagged as such and ARIA roles are used to provide additional help for devices that use it. CSS3 media queries are use to provide two different layouts depending on the width of the browser. This is done mostly to cater for tablet sized devices, like the iPad, which will switch layout depending on the orientation of the device. Several sections of the site is enhanced with jQuery, like the statistics page, the wineyear page, and the accounting page. Long articles are made more accessible with fixed style navigation. Using JWPlayer, all audio and video is accessible both through a Flash player and as HTML5.

Even though the brief was to make a site that will be rather static as soon as it is launched, we chose to build it upon ExpressionEngine. The sheer amount of content, with the inevitable number of corrections coming late in the process, made it necessary to separate it from the templates. The resulting site has a total of 14 different article templates, and a total of more than 400 article elements, all neatly organized with the faboulous Structure plugin for EE. Amazon S3 with CloudFront is used to speed up delivery of video.

Check out the Vinmonopolet Annual Report 2010 here.

After half a year in Fredensborgveien we finally managed to get something up on the walls.

Me and Kjempefint will never be mistaken for Interior decorators, but we finally managed to get something up on our otherwise empty, white office-walls. So far we've got the crazy-cool "Ooooh, I'm so metal"-poster by Painbucket, another poster of a guy slaying a robot (!), and, last but not least, Sailor Jerry's 2011 pinup calendar. Campaign site for Visit Denmark promoting the opening of LEGOLAND on the 2nd of April.

I was comissioned by Dinamo Soulpolice to work together with them to produce this campaign, called "Jublekalender", for Visit Denmark. The campaign is basicly a take on the norwegian pre-christmas concept "Julekalender", with a twist. Each day from the 10th of march, a new activity is opened, and the users can participate in different activities and win prizes. The calendar counts down towards the opening of the danish theme park LEGOLAND. Nothing fancy, just a good old kinda funny campaign thingy.

I did the framework programming for the campaign, including global sound-handling, message-handling, registration, etc, while Ronny at Dinamo Soulpolice did/is doing the different activities. The fabolous stop motion animations was done by Animasjonsdepartementet. Design by Dinamo Design.

The live campaign can be seen here until it closes on the 2nd of April.

(ATM, the server is seriously struggeling, so if the videos starts/stops all the time, that's it...)

I had some spare days between projects and decided to treat my own website to a reboot.

Basicly just sharpening my ExpressionEngine skills, and doing som jQuery coding just for fun. Also, I added a news-section so that I can post what I'm up to, without having to add it to my list of featured projects.

After spending some more days with ExpressionEngine I just have to say I'm really, really impressed. Both the admin interface and developer workflow is really slick, and suits me perfect. Hope to be able to do alot more ExpressionEngine sites in the future.
